Robinson Counseling Center is dedicated to helping you receive the care and support you need for a drug or alcohol
problem to improve your health and well-being and support your recovery.
When you request services for the first time, you will be scheduled for an intake appointment in advance of being
scheduled for services. This important first step helps our team assess your needs, register you for care, and connect
you with the most appropriate expertise.
The Substance Use Disorder Program at Robinson Counseling Center is ready to guide you or someone you care about with treatment and support leading to recovery from drug and alcohol challenges.
Whether you have sought help before or it is your first time, our team supports you with compassion and expertise to improve your mental and physical health. Our goal is twofold: recovery from addiction, and healing from anything else that prevents you from managing your life without the use of substances. We help you develop the skills and access resources that will promote your well-being and long-term recovery.
Services for Substance Use Disorder
Opened in 2018, the Center has helped thousands of people to begin and manage their recovery. Services include:
Level of Care Assessment
This initial evaluation helps to determine the services and therapies that will be part of your treatment plan.
Outpatient Therapy
A key component of our program is outpatient therapy or “talk therapy” provided on an individual, group, and/or intensive outpatient basis by our licensed and certified drug and alcohol counselors. Therapy sessions are designed to support and improve your mental health while working to stop substance use with medical care and monitoring to ensure your safety and quality of life during treatment.
Certified Recovery Specialists
Certified Recovery Specialists (CRS) are members of our treatment team who have specialized training and lived experience with a substance use disorder. As professionals who are in recovery themselves, they engage clients to offer non-clinical emotional support and understanding, while sharing strategies for building a personal approach that works for the individual.
Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Center of Excellence
If you are living with Opioid Use Disorder, our team will ensure your access to Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) along with your medical care, mental health therapy, and other support resources. MAT services are provided at our Conynynham Primary Health Care Center, which is an Opioid Use Disorder Center of Excellence recognized by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services.
Community Warm Transfer Program
When someone is experiencing a substance-induced medical emergency, timely support and assistance can make all the difference in accessing treatment and other services. Our Certified Recovery Specialists strive to respond quickly to those who need immediate care during these stressful, uncomfortable, and sometimes life-threatening situations.
Services are provided 24/7 in Luzerne and Wyoming counties through the following access points:

Prevention Education and Outreach
The Substance Use Disorders team believes that solutions for recovery and resilience begin with reaching children and families with the message of prevention. While working to reduce the stigma of addiction, activities include universal classroom education in regional schools (K12), services for students, and outreach at numerous community events for prevention and referral to services.
The specialty department for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) supports children and adults with physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges associated with alcohol exposure before birth. Because the signs and symptoms can vary widely and are lifelong, FASD is often unrecognized or misunderstood. FASD services include assessment and individualized treatment to address the physical and developmental challenges of those affected.
