Children’s Service Center, together with its Robinson Counseling Center and Conyngham Primary Health Care Center, has opened outpatient pediatric Occupational Therapy (OT) services to help children and adolescents improve functioning and independence with behavioral, neurological, and cognitive challenges. Services are located in a newly appointed specialty suite at 110 S. Pennsylvania Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, which is less than a mile from CSC’s main campus on South Franklin Street.
CSC President and CEO Christopher Boyle said the OT services were designed to expand care for young clients who may benefit from therapies to improve activities of daily living (ADLs), education, rest/sleep, play/leisure, and social participation. “We know that occupational therapy improves outcomes for our clients with Autism Spectrum Disorder. By coordinating OT with our other autism services under one medical record, we want to enhance the experience for clients and families receiving care from our psychiatrists, psychologists, and professionals in Intensive Behavioral Health Services and Applied Behavior Analysis.”
Led by Fallon Gorski, MS, OTR/L, CSC’s Occupational Therapy services target the physical and cognitive skills that are necessary for clients o participate in activities, such as:
- Self-care training
- Visual and fine motor skills
- Balance/coordination
- Sensory processing
- Functional play
- Emotional regulation
- Social participation
- Caregiver education
A written order/prescription is required from a licensed health professional. For OT evaluation and treatment, contact 570-825-6425, ext. 8040. Referrals should be faxed to 507-574-4026.
